Amelia has been a florist for 14 years and has worked in many areas of floristry, from high end venues in London, doing overnight installs up very tall ladders in the rain, to very early mornings freelancing in 40 degree heat in the Cotswolds. Since moving to Kent from London to have her second child five years ago, she has spent the last 4 years managing florist shops in Kent.

 

Roots was born with a dream to supply Tunbridge Wells with beautiful, seasonal, scented flowers that are lovingly grown by local farmers often from seed. With so many wonderful flowers on offer on our doorstep, buying locally means we are lowering our carbon footprint, offering flowers that are not sprayed with chemicals and also living in tune with the seasons. The choice of flowers is abundant throughout the year with species of flowers not available from Dutch growers.

 

The growing season typically runs from the end of February when the first daffodils start to poke through the soil until the end of October when Dahlia season is well and truly fruitful. To ensure the shop is stocked and welcoming throughout the year, and following along the earth friendly theme, the shop will stock refillable shampoo, conditioner, bodywash and laundry detergents alongside plants, pots and gifts, cards and wrapping paper – all lovingly chosen from trusted suppliers, mostly small businesses with a great ethos, story or ethical inclinations.
